GEVernova Inc. announced that it has been awarded a significant contract by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) to supply over 70 extra high-voltage (EHV) transformers and shunt reactors for critical transmission infrastructure projects across India.

The equipment, comprising 765 kV class units, will play a key role in enabling renewable energy evacuation under India’s Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) framework. The order was booked through GE Vernova T&D India Limited, the listed arm of GE Vernova’s Electrification business in the country.

“This is one of the largest order intakes for GE Vernova’s Electrification segment in India and a significant milestone for our Vadodara facility,” said Ruchir Mayank, Commercial Leader of GE Vernova’s Power Transmission business in India. “We are proud to contribute to India’s grid modernization and renewable energy expansion, and we thank POWERGRID for their continued trust in our technology and execution capabilities.”

“These orders reflect the critical role GE Vernova is playing in advancing India’s transmission infrastructure to support global renewable energy goals,” said Sandeep Zanzaria, Managing Director and CEO of GE Vernova T&D India Limited. “As a listed entity in India, we are proud to contribute to national priorities by delivering extra high-voltage technologies that enable a more resilient power systems.”

POWERGRID, India’s largest power transmission utility, is a central player in the integration of renewable energy into the national grid. The new equipment, procured under a bulk procurement strategy, is expected to support high-capacity green energy corridors across multiple states, including Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh.

This project highlights GE Vernova’s commitment to accelerating the global energy transition, particularly in high-growth, emerging markets. By supporting the integration of large-scale renewable power, the initiative will contribute to enhanced energy security and help reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

The transformers and shunt reactors will be designed, manufactured, and tested at GE Vernova’s Vadodara facility, which has been producing 765 kV class equipment since 2009. To date, the plant has delivered over 700 units nationwide, reinforcing the reliability and resilience of India’s power transmission network.

GE Vernova’s scope under the contract includes the supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of the equipment. Manufacturing activities will be carried out at the Vadodara site, with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2026 and continue through late 2027.
