BASF produces green ammonia from Germany plant

Chemical giant BASF has begun producing green ammonia at its Verbund site in Ludwigshafen.

The company is producing two new renewable ammonia grades – renewable ammonia and renewable ammonia solution 24.5%.

It is feeding hydrogen into the ammonia plant which reduces the plant’s natural gas consumption.

The renewable energy-derived hydrogen has been certified according to global certification ISCC+, and can be used as drop-in replacement for conventional products.
