Mobi Solar Philippines, Inc. has announced the signing of its first major Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with XRC Mall Developer, Inc., the company behind the nationwide XentroMall brand. The agreement marks a significant milestone for Mobi Solar in the country’s commercial and industrial (C&I) solar sector and will bring 2.5 megawatts-peak (MWp) of solar capacity to several of XRC’s community malls and public markets.
Founded in 2023, Mobi Solar is a rising player in the Philippine renewable energy landscape, offering zero-CAPEX solar solutions through flexible PPAs. The new deal reflects the growing adoption of clean energy in the retail sector and highlights Mobi Solar’s turnkey solar offering that eliminates the need for upfront investment.
“We’re proud to partner with XRC Mall Developer as our first client in the retail sector,” said Chester Reyes, Director of Commercial and Development at Mobi Solar. “This project shows how accessible and scalable clean energy can be when the financing model removes barriers.”
Under the agreement, Mobi Solar will install and operate the 2.5 MWp grid-tied solar system across multiple XentroMall locations. The installation is expected to generate over 3.36 million kilowatt-hours annually, resulting in approximately PHP 33.61 million in yearly savings for XRC and offsetting more than 2,352 metric tons of CO₂ emissions.
The PPA includes full installation, operations, and maintenance of the systems throughout the contract duration. By using solar energy during peak daylight hours and drawing from the grid only when needed, XRC’s properties aim to reduce dependence on conventional electricity while enhancing sustainability.
Mobi Solar’s PPA model enables businesses to switch to solar with no capital expenditure, paying only for the electricity generated—typically 5% to 20% cheaper than local utility rates. This financing approach has helped the company build a strong B2B portfolio within just two years.
In addition to the XRC deal, Mobi Solar has deployed and secured several other C&I projects, including:
- Sercomm Philippines Inc. – 1.5 MW (Laguna)
- Jolly Industrial Park – 1.42 MW (Bulacan)
- C&U Philippines – 1.82 MW (Batangas)
- Royal Peak Tower A – 245 kWp (Parañaque)
- New Hope Bulacan Agriculture Inc. – 88 kWp (Bulacan)
- San Simon Plant – 135 kWp (Pampanga)
With a combined 52.9 MW of installed and pipeline capacity, Mobi Solar is positioning itself as a significant contributor to the country’s shift toward decentralized, clean energy systems.
From XRC Mall Developer’s perspective, the partnership supports a broader commitment to sustainable operations.
“As a company rooted in community service, we want to lead in sustainability,” said Alexander Cruz, Chairman of XRC Mall Developer.
Ryan Kristoffer Caroro, AVP for Operations, added, “This is just the beginning. We see clean energy as a core part of our growth strategy moving forward.”
As the Philippines accelerates its clean energy transition, partnerships like that of Mobi Solar and XRC Mall Developer are paving the way for businesses to reduce both carbon emissions and energy costs—without compromising operational scalability.
