DENSO Kicks Off Renewable Energy Projects With First Tennessee Solar Facility

DENSO, in partnership with the City of Maryville, Silicon Ranch, and the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), has launched operations at a new solar facility located at DENSO Manufacturing Tennessee, Inc. (DMTN). At a ceremony today, the partners celebrated the completion of the 12.82-acre project, which will generate renewable energy for DENSO’s operations while supporting the local power grid.

The facility, powered by more than 4,000 advanced solar panels, is expected to produce roughly 3,400 MWh of electricity annually. Construction began in November 2022 and was completed this summer.

This installation is the first of three solar projects planned for Blount County. The second facility is expected to come online by December 2025, with the third anticipated in the second quarter of 2026.

Beyond these three projects, DENSO will also receive solar energy from an additional Silicon Ranch facility elsewhere in the Tennessee Valley through TVA’s Green Invest program. Combined, these initiatives will enable DENSO to meet all of DMTN’s electricity needs with renewable energy, advancing the company’s broader conservation and sustainability goals.
