Dry ice production from industrial gas distributors and dry ice-only producing companies has more than doubled in the past decade, equating to almost a quarter of the US’s total dry ice market.
That was highlighted by Maura Garvey, President of Intelligas Consulting, at gasworld’s North American CO2 Summit in Denver.
“Over the past five to eight years, many industrial gas producers have seen profitability in the dry ice market, and they’ve purchased pelletizers to grow in this space,” she said.
Garvey believes there are two reasons for this shift: the first is that independent players don’t want to redistribute dry ice for the majors.
