Leader Energy Wins 136MWp Solar Power Project In Kedah Under Malaysia’s LSS5+ Programme To Boost Energy Transition

Leader Energy Group Berhad has secured a new 136MWp solar power project under Malaysia’s Large-Scale Solar 5+ (LSS5+) programme. The project will be developed in Kedah by the Group’s wholly owned subsidiary, Leader Solar Energy (LSE) III, and will be located in Mukim Kuala Ketil, Daerah Baling. This is not Leader Energy’s first contribution to Malaysia’s renewable energy sector. The company previously developed two solar projects under the country’s first Large-Scale Solar (LSS) programme—LSE (38MWp) in 2018 and LSE II (29.4MWp) in 2019.

These projects, together with the upcoming LSE III, demonstrate the Group’s strong track record in building and operating large-scale solar plants that support Malaysia’s clean energy goals. LSE III is scheduled to begin operations in 2027. Once completed, it will play a key role in strengthening Malaysia’s renewable energy mix and contribute to the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR). The project also reinforces Leader Energy’s commitment to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

Dato’ Sean H’ng, Executive Deputy Chairman and Group Chief Executive Officer of Leader Energy, said in a statement, “Winning this project is another important milestone for Leader Energy and a testament to the strength of our experience in the renewable energy sector. Having successfully delivered LSE and LSE II in Kedah, we are confident in bringing even better to LSE III. We are proud to play a role in advancing Malaysia’s energy transition while continuing our growth journey across Asia. Every new project brings us closer to our aspiration of ‘RE-Energising a Tomorrow where renewable energy uplifts lives and economies.’

Leader Energy’s renewable energy portfolio goes beyond Malaysia, spanning seven Asian countries and covering solar, wind, hydro, and transmission assets. With its growing presence across the region, the Group continues to focus on delivering sustainable energy solutions that benefit both society and the environment. Through a solid pipeline of projects and proven expertise in large-scale renewable development, Leader Energy is dedicated to creating long-term value, building sustainable infrastructure, and supporting a fair and inclusive shift towards a low-carbon future.
