UK-based Mendell Helium is poised to start commercial production at Rost, Kansas, by the end of October, according to an operations update. The plan assumes that Mendell Helium will go ahead with an option to buy M3 Helium, a helium producer in Kansas.
A tube trailer for gas deliveries has been leased by M3 Helium and is being refitted and will be used to deliver gases a nearby offtaker. The raw gas previously tested has a helium composition of 5.1%.
De-watering of Rost started last month and there is now “consistent gas flow”. Potential expansion opportunities are also being explored.
