Global engineering and tech company Aker Solutions has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Sweden-based climate-tech company Nordbex to develop a portfolio of future BECCS (bioenergy with carbon capture, use and storage) plants across Europe.
Under the MoU, the companies will combine their technology, competency and capabilities to aim to deliver Nordbex 1, Sweden’s first replicable BECCS facility.
Aker Solutions will provide project management, engineering and EPC services, while Nordbex will lead as the project developer.
Scheduled for deployment in the southernmost electricity region in Sweden (SE4) by the first half of 2029, the facility will turn forestry waste into biofuel, generating electricity and heat for communities while capturing carbon dioxide.
