The softening of helium prices in Asia in the past two years is still only having a limited impact on industrial gas major Air Liquide, according to its CEO Francois Jackow.
Speaking on today’s Q3 earnings call, Jackow was asked in the Q&A segment about helium and the way it appeared to be a drag on Asia performance for the group.
“Let’s keep in mind that helium represents 3% to 4% of the [entire] turnover of Air Liquide,” he responded. “In terms of the impact on sales, it is quite limited.”
Jackow said there was clear evidence that the market has been “disturbed” by Russia’s Gazprom flooding Asia in particular with lower priced helium since it restarted helium production in September 2023.
