Global provider of energy transition technologies Topsoe will deliver key technology that will underpin an e-methanol production project in Galicia, Spain.
The company will supply the solid oxide electrolyser cell to project operator Forestal del Atlantico on the back of a signed offtake agreement. The chemical manufacturer will use the technology to generate green hydrogen to produce e-methanol to be used in chemicals, such as glue and resin.
E-methanol is synthesised by combining renewable hydrogen with captured carbon dioxide before the gases are reacted under high temperature and pressure in a catalyst.
Forestal will use the tech to decarbonise the company’s chemical production process.
