Refrigerant lifecycle specialist A-Gas has launched a new line of certified reclaimed refrigerants to help distributors and contractors comply with California’s new Assembly Bill 663 (AB 663), which tightens the state’s rules on high-global warming potential hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs).
AB 663 was signed on 1 October 2025 and states that certified reclaimed products are exempt from GWP restrictions that affect HFCs – potent greenhouse gases widely used in air conditioning and refrigeration. However, there are strict criteria.
The product must contain at least 85% reclaimed material by weight, be AHRI 700 certified, achieve a minimum purity of 99.5%, and be processed by an EPA-certified reclaimer.
