The government of Oman and a group of Spanish energy and investment firms have taken steps to advance development of a low-carbon e-methanol supply and bunkering hub in the Governorate of Dhofar, Oman.
The consortium will explore the potential for bunkering and export for e-methanol produced in the region. A government branch will work with authorities and stakeholders to build regulatory frameworks, explore land allocation, and look at incentives.
The consortium includes HIF EMEA, Acciona Nordex Green Hydrogen, and Al Meera Investments.
The initiative also fits with Oman’s national decarbonisation targets, which were laid out in the Oman Vision 2040 and the Sultanate’s Logistics Strategy. The nation has also revealed its target of one million tonnes of green hydrogen production by 2030.
