Venture Global files for Plaquemines LNG expansion

US liquefied natural gas producer Venture Global has submitted applications to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to permit and approve its Plaquemines LNG expansion project.

Venture Global plans to add over 30 million tonnes per annum LNG production capacity and bring the project’s total capacity to more than 58 million tonnes per year.

The bolt-on will be built in three phases and consist of 32 modular liquefaction trains.

Venture Global first announced its plans earlier this year and has already applied to the US Department of Energy (DOE) for the additional export permits needed.
