The UK Government will invest £10m in South Wales’ semiconductor industry in a move that aims to create skilled jobs and drive economic growth across the region.
This funding will focus on semiconductor technologies linked to AI and data centres to “support innovation, strengthen supply chains, and develop the skills needed for future growth.”
The government also plans to back AI Growth Zones in North Wales and South Wales with £5m to support local AI adoption and skills.
This is in addition to half a billion pounds for the Welsh Government to spend on services in Wales.
