Japan’s Osaka Gas has signed a deal with bp-owned US firm Archaea Energy to purchase biomethane derived from landfill gas.
According to an agreement signed in November, Osaka Gas will buy around 26,000 normal cubic metres of biomethane produced from landfill gas in the US.
The biomethane will be liquefied at the Freeport LNG terminal along the US Gulf Coast and shipped to the Kansai region of Japan.
