Solar Tech Weekly: Hoymiles Launches Hybrid Solar Inverter; New Solar Material Produces Hydrogen On Demand and More…

Hoymiles has introduced the HIS-3.6L-G3 hybrid inverter series, designed for residential solar and energy storage systems. The new inverter integrates solar generation, battery storage, and smart energy management to improve household energy independence. The launch highlights the growing demand for flexible residential solar solutions that support self-consumption and backup power.

Researchers have developed a novel solar battery material capable of storing sunlight and releasing energy later to generate hydrogen on demand. The technology combines solar energy capture with chemical energy storage, enabling flexible hydrogen production even without continuous sunlight. This breakthrough could support future solar-to-hydrogen systems and renewable fuel generation.

CIGRE and the 450 MHz Alliance have released a white paper outlining a framework for power grid private wireless networks. The report highlights the role of 450 MHz spectrum in enabling secure, reliable communication systems for modern power grids, supporting digitalization, smart grid applications, and large-scale renewable integration.

Scientists have developed curved perovskite photovoltaic glass that enables better solar integration into electric vehicles. The flexible solar glass can conform to curved vehicle surfaces while maintaining power generation efficiency. This innovation could allow EVs to generate supplemental electricity from sunlight, improving vehicle range and supporting next-generation solar mobility solutions.

Essens Renewable has secured a 400 MW solar project in Rajasthan, bringing the company closer to achieving a 3 GW renewable portfolio. The project strengthens its position in India’s utility-scale solar sector and reflects the continued momentum in large-scale solar development across the country.

Researchers have used AI-driven inverse design techniques to develop high-efficiency semitransparent perovskite solar cells capable of producing full-color output. The approach allows scientists to optimize light absorption and color properties simultaneously, opening new possibilities for solar integration in buildings, windows, and aesthetic architectural applications.
