Hartek Group has announced the successful commissioning of Punjab’s first agrivoltaic solar power project developed under the open access model for a leading IT company. The project has been installed in Kapurthala and marks an important step toward integrating renewable energy generation with sustainable agricultural land use in the state.

The newly commissioned agrivoltaic facility combines solar power production with agricultural activities, allowing land to be used for both energy generation and farming. This approach helps maximize land utilization while promoting clean energy adoption. Agrivoltaic systems are increasingly being recognized as an innovative solution to address land-use challenges associated with large-scale solar installations.

According to the company, the solar power plant is expected to generate more than 70 lakh units of clean electricity every year. The power produced will support the energy needs of the IT company through the open access mechanism, helping the organization reduce its carbon footprint and transition toward greener energy sources. The project is also expected to contribute to regional sustainability goals by reducing dependence on conventional fossil fuel-based electricity.

The development highlights the growing role of agrivoltaic technology in India’s renewable energy landscape. By enabling simultaneous agricultural activities and solar energy generation, such projects provide a balanced solution for land management and energy production.

This project also reflects the continued growth of Hartek’s renewables business unit. Recently, the company secured a major 400 MW Solar Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Karnataka. In addition, it has commissioned another 30 MW solar power project under the Punjab Open Access Scheme.

With decades of experience in engineering and power infrastructure, Hartek Group continues to strengthen India’s clean energy transition by delivering reliable solar solutions and supporting industries in their shift toward sustainable energy.
