Iberdrola Again Earns a Spot In Ethisphere’s 2026 Ranking, Remaining The Only Spanish Energy Firm And One Of Five Global Leaders In The Energy And Utilities Category

For the thirteenth year in a row, Iberdrola has been recognized as one of the most ethical companies in the world. The recognition comes from the Ethisphere Institute through its World’s Most Ethical Companies 2026 ranking, which is considered a leading global benchmark for good business practices and compliance. Iberdrola is the only Spanish energy company included in the list and one of just five companies worldwide selected in the Energy and Utilities category. The acknowledgment also extends to its U.S. subsidiary, Avangrid, which appears in the ranking for the eighth consecutive year.

The 2026 edition highlights 138 companies across 17 countries and 40 different industries. Each company is chosen after a strict review process. With this achievement, both Iberdrola and Avangrid continue to demonstrate long-term leadership in corporate ethics and responsible governance. Iberdrola has been included in this ranking since 2014, and Avangrid since 2019, showing the Group’s ongoing commitment to integrity and ethical management. The Ethisphere Institute has been recognizing companies with strong ethical performance since 2007.

Its goal is to highlight organizations that positively influence the global business landscape—those that consider their impact on employees, customers, partners, and society, and prioritize ethics in both daily decisions and long-term strategies. The evaluation uses the Ethisphere Ethics Quotient®, which examines more than 240 indicators. These cover corporate governance, leadership and reputation, compliance programs, ethical culture, risk management, sustainability performance, and relationships with third parties. The assessment is also reviewed by an international panel of experts to ensure a comprehensive and balanced evaluation.

Alongside this recognition, Iberdrola holds other important distinctions in the field of compliance. These include the Compliance Leader Verification certification from the Ethisphere Institute, which acknowledges strong ethical leadership and internal values. Iberdrola also ranks first for the third consecutive year in the IBEX 35 Compliance 2025 transparency ranking prepared by the Haz Foundation. Additionally, the company received the award for best compliance practices among IBEX 35 firms at the Compliance Awards organized by the financial newspaper Expansión.

Iberdrola’s Governance and Sustainability System is built on ethical conduct, transparency, and adherence to international best practices. It operates through a comprehensive Compliance System designed to ensure that all activities follow applicable laws and to prevent any type of irregular behavior within the organization.
