NTPC Explores Power & Mining Collaboration with Malawi at BES 2026

NTPC Ltd. is exploring opportunities for expanding its international footprint following a high-level meeting between its Chairman and Managing Director and Jean Mathanga, Hon’ble Minister of Energy and Mining of Malawi.

The discussion focused on potential collaboration in the development of power projects and identifying opportunities within the mining sector, aiming to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two nations.

The interaction took place on the sidelines of the Bharat Electricity Summit 2026, being held from March 19–22, 2026 at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, under the aegis of the Ministry of Power.

Senior NTPC officials, including Shaswattam, Executive Director of NETRA-NTPC; Renu Narang, CEO of NVVN-NTPC; and Dr. Jatinder Singh Chandok, GM (Business Development – International), were also present during the meeting.

Discussions centred on exploring avenues for the joint development of power infrastructure in Malawi, covering both thermal and renewable energy segments. During the meeting, Minister Mathanga extended an invitation to the NTPC delegation to visit Malawi to further evaluate investment prospects and collaborative initiatives in energy and mining.

The engagement underscores NTPC’s continued commitment to strengthening regional partnerships and advancing its global expansion strategy in the energy sector.
