Recharge Power, a key subsidiary of J&V Energy Technology, has taken a major step forward in Japan’s energy storage market by securing a new order for a 20 MW / 80 MWh battery energy storage system. The deal was signed with a Japanese energy storage investor and reflects the company’s growing role in supporting the country’s clean energy transition.

The project will be carried out in partnership with REENS, Recharge Power’s local subsidiary in Japan. This collaboration brings together technical expertise in energy storage system integration and a strong understanding of Japan’s power grid. The company’s aim to ensure smooth installation and connection of the system to the grid. The delivery of equipment will happen in stages, with the first shipments expected to begin in July 2026.

This new order is part of a broader expansion strategy for Recharge Power in Japan. The company already operates five energy storage sites across the country and is planning to add another 38 MW / 152 MWh of capacity by the end of the year. In addition, Recharge Power is working with local partner GREEN ENERGY to develop more than 20 high-voltage and ultra-high-voltage energy storage projects. Together, these efforts are expected to help the company build a strong project pipeline of 262 MW by 2027.

The announcement was made during World Smart Energy Week, one of Asia’s leading energy events. At the exhibition, Recharge Power and its parent company showcased their existing projects in regions such as Tohoku and Kyushu. They also presented their advanced energy management systems, which play an important role in balancing electricity supply and demand.

These systems are especially useful as Japan increases its use of renewable energy sources like solar power. Since solar energy can be variable, battery storage helps maintain a stable power supply by storing excess energy and releasing it when needed.

Japan is also updating its energy policies to support the combination of solar power and battery storage systems. This creates new opportunities for companies like Recharge Power to expand their operations.

With its focus on advanced technology and strong local partnerships, Recharge Power is positioning itself as an important player in Japan’s renewable energy sector. The company’s growing presence highlights the increasing importance of energy storage in building a reliable and sustainable power system.
