Hulic Corporation, along with its energy arm Hulic Energy Solution Co., Ltd., has announced a collaboration with Clean Energy Connect Co., Ltd. to roll out off-site corporate power purchase agreement (PPA) services supported by a 70 MW distributed solar portfolio.

The initiative will be executed through a joint venture between Hulic and Clean Energy Connect to develop and operate approximately 800 non-FIT small-scale solar power plants across Japan. The generated renewable power will be supplied to Hulic Group facilities via Hulic Energy Solution, with phased commissioning scheduled between July 2026 and March 2029.

The solar portfolio is expected to generate around 73 GWh annually, meeting nearly 20% of the group’s total electricity demand. The move aligns with Hulic’s broader goal of transitioning all its buildings to 100% renewable electricity by 2029, supporting Japan’s 2050 carbon neutrality ambitions.

The partnership leverages the growing adoption of off-site corporate PPAs in Japan, enabling long-term, stable renewable energy procurement while promoting distributed generation models. Clean Energy Connect’s expertise in deploying small-scale solar systems, including installations on underutilized land such as abandoned farmland, is expected to play a key role in accelerating deployment.

Notably, the solar plants will be equipped with “ready outlets,” allowing local communities to access electricity during outages, enhancing regional energy resilience.

Through this initiative, the partners aim to expand renewable energy adoption, strengthen energy security, and advance decarbonization efforts across Japan’s commercial real estate sector.
