Top Stories Of The Day: India Tops G20 Climate Goals; India’s First Inter-Track Metro Solar Project; POWERGRID Gets ₹4,000 Cr Loan and More…

A glowing spherical structure covered with solar panels and wind turbines lights up the sky above a renewable energy farm.

India has emerged among the top G20 performers in climate action, with Union Minister Piyush Goyal highlighting the country’s early achievement of renewable energy targets. India has already reached around 260 GW of renewable capacity and is now working toward its ambitious 500 GW clean energy target by 2030.

Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation has commissioned India’s first metro-based inter-track solar project at Hingna Depot in Nagpur. The 50-kWp solar PV system uses unused space between live metro tracks and is expected to generate nearly 70,000 units annually, reducing carbon emissions by around 65 tonnes each year.

POWERGRID has approved raising up to ₹4,000 crore through an unsecured rupee term loan or line of credit from State Bank of India. The move is aimed at strengthening the company’s financial position and supporting future infrastructure development, while ensuring regulatory transparency through stock exchange disclosures.

Delhi’s rooftop solar market is witnessing strong growth, led largely by residential consumers. The trend reflects rising household interest in clean power, lower electricity bills, and distributed renewable energy adoption. With increasing consumer participation, rooftop solar is becoming an important part of the capital’s clean energy transition.

NTPC Renewable Energy Limited has issued a tender for an ICT package linked to 900 MW solar projects in Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh. The scope includes design, engineering, supply, testing, and commissioning of two 500 MVA transformers, along with fire protection, monitoring equipment, and reliability testing requirements.

NEEPCO has invited bids for Stage-II rooftop solar deployment under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana across Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura. The tender targets residential rooftop solar systems and is restricted to technically qualified channel partners empanelled during the first stage of the program.

ACME Solar Holdings has commissioned an additional 35.714 MW/160.512 MWh battery energy storage capacity at its Rajasthan project. With this addition, ACME Surya Power’s total commissioned capacity has reached 175.223 MW/787.387 MWh, strengthening renewable energy storage and supporting reliable power supply during non-solar hours.

Sahaj Solar has secured a ₹63.5 crore contract from MSEDCL for off-grid DC solar water pumping systems in Maharashtra. The project covers design, manufacturing, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, remote monitoring, warranty, and five years of maintenance under PM KUSUM and state solar agriculture schemes.

Shakti Pumps has received a ₹155.24 crore order from MSEDCL for 6,580 off-grid solar photovoltaic water pumping systems across Maharashtra. The contract includes 3 HP, 5 HP, and 7.5 HP pumps and covers design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning for solar-powered irrigation.

CSERC has approved 25 MW behind-the-meter solar use without a dedicated feeder for industrial open access in Chhattisgarh. The decision is expected to support industrial consumers seeking cleaner and more cost-effective power options while improving flexibility for captive and open access solar arrangements.

GSECL has sought tariff approval of ₹1.87/kWh for its 40 MW Pachham solar project in Gujarat. The project was developed in two phases and carries a finalized capital cost of ₹205.13 crore, with tariff calculations considering state subsidy support and regulatory norms.

CERC has released draft Power Market Second Amendment Regulations, 2026, introducing market coupling for centralized electricity price discovery. The proposal appoints Grid India as the Market Coupling Operator, enabling aggregation of bids across power exchanges to determine a single market-clearing price.

Indian equity markets ended lower on April 30, with the Sensex and NIFTY declining amid broad-based selling pressure. Renewable energy and electric mobility stocks also remained under pressure, with Websol Energy, Insolation Energy, Adani Green Energy, Tata Power, and other sector players closing in the red.

AMPIN Energy Transition has commissioned a 45 MWp solar project at Patnagarh, Odisha, under the OREP-22 scheme. The project supplies clean energy to major C&I consumers and is helping replace conventional grid power, reduce costs, and support corporate decarbonization goals.

Indore Municipal Corporation has commissioned a 60 MW captive solar plant in Jalud, Khargone district. Funded largely through green bonds, the project will power Narmada water pumping operations, reduce electricity expenditure, generate around 9.6 crore units annually, and cut nearly 1.46 lakh tonnes of emissions.

Insolation Energy has informed stock exchanges that it does not fall under SEBI’s Large Corporate framework for FY26. The company confirmed that it does not meet the prescribed criteria for mandatory debt fundraising disclosures and also shared its credit ratings as part of regulatory compliance.

Waaree Energies reported strong FY26 performance, doubling EBITDA and PAT while achieving its highest-ever annual module production of 12.6 GW. The company also delivered robust Q4 revenue growth, exceeded EBITDA guidance, recommended dividends, and advanced its Waaree 2.0 transition strategy.

Bondada Engineering has secured domestic orders worth around ₹125.30 crore for a 75 MW solar project in Khavda, Gujarat. The orders from Adani Group companies cover supply and on-site services for Balance of System components, further strengthening Bondada’s renewable infrastructure portfolio.

Maharashtra has approved its Artificial Intelligence Policy 2026, placing MAJESTIC at the core of its innovation agenda. The initiative aims to build AI infrastructure, support startups, improve governance, and drive applications across healthcare, agriculture, education, and public service delivery.
