Top Stories Of The Day: Apple’s ₹100 Cr India RE Push; Ampyr’s 67.5 MW Karnataka Solar; SECI Floats Green Methanol RfS and More…

A vast solar farm captures sunlight during a vibrant sunset.

Apple Inc. has committed nearly ₹100 crore toward expanding renewable energy capacity in India through its partnership with CleanMax. The investment supports Apple’s sustainability and clean energy sourcing goals across its Indian supply chain. The move further highlights growing corporate participation in renewable procurement and strengthens India’s position as a key manufacturing and clean energy investment destination.

Climate Fund Managers and Ampyr Energy have commissioned the 67.5 MWp Somasamudra solar project in Karnataka. The project enhances clean power generation capacity in southern India and supports the state’s renewable energy targets. It also demonstrates increasing international investor confidence in India’s renewable sector and the growing importance of utility-scale solar infrastructure nationwide.

SECI has issued a draft Request for Selection for production of 5 lakh metric tonnes of green methanol under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The initiative aims to promote low-carbon fuel production and accelerate industrial decarbonisation. Green methanol is expected to become a key alternative fuel for shipping, chemicals, and other hard-to-abate industrial sectors.

India has committed ₹20,000 crore to accelerate carbon capture, utilisation, and storage technologies along with industrial decarbonisation initiatives. The funding aims to support cleaner production methods in sectors such as steel, cement, and refining. The initiative reinforces India’s climate ambitions while encouraging adoption of advanced low-carbon technologies across energy-intensive industries.

SPML Infra has secured a ₹1,128 crore contract from NTPC for a 1 GWh battery energy storage system project in Bihar. The project will help improve grid reliability, renewable energy integration, and peak demand management. Large-scale battery storage deployment continues to emerge as a critical component of India’s evolving renewable energy and power infrastructure landscape.

Lakshadweep has invited bids for 2,107 kW rooftop solar systems and 5,525 kWh battery storage installations. The projects aim to reduce dependence on diesel-based electricity generation across the islands while improving energy security. Renewable-plus-storage systems are increasingly becoming vital solutions for remote and geographically isolated regions across India.

BHEL has invited bids for setting up a solar PV plant at Jagdishpur FSIP Township under a 25-year RESCO model. The project reflects growing adoption of long-term renewable procurement structures that minimise upfront investment requirements. The initiative is expected to support distributed solar deployment and strengthen India’s transition toward sustainable energy infrastructure.

Jharkhand has invited bids for maintenance and operation of a 6 MW rooftop solar project. The tender underlines the growing importance of long-term operational efficiency and performance management in India’s rooftop solar segment. Strong maintenance frameworks are essential for ensuring higher plant reliability, better energy generation, and improved project sustainability.

Tata Power-DDL will organise a National Lok Adalat for settlement of electricity theft and disconnected connection cases. The initiative aims to improve dispute resolution efficiency while encouraging consumer compliance and reducing pending legal matters. Such efforts contribute toward operational efficiency and stronger governance within urban electricity distribution systems.

RECPDCL has invited bids for a major transmission system project supporting evacuation of 14 GW renewable energy capacity in Gujarat. Expansion of transmission infrastructure remains critical for integrating large-scale renewable generation into the national grid. The project will help strengthen grid reliability and support India’s ambitious clean energy expansion targets.

RECPDCL has floated an RfP for the 7.5 GW Lakadia Renewable Energy Zone transmission system in Gujarat. The project aims to facilitate seamless power evacuation from upcoming renewable energy installations in the region. As renewable capacity additions accelerate, transmission readiness is becoming increasingly important for maintaining grid efficiency and power reliability.

Punjab’s Power Minister reviewed PSPCL’s restoration activities after heavy rains damaged electricity infrastructure across several regions. The review focused on faster repair mechanisms, improved emergency response, and minimising power disruptions. Increasing climate-related weather events are driving greater focus on building resilient and modern electricity infrastructure across states.

The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission has proposed a new mechanism aimed at freeing stranded renewable energy grid connectivity. The proposal seeks to improve transmission allocation efficiency and optimise utilisation of existing grid infrastructure. Resolving connectivity bottlenecks is expected to accelerate renewable project execution and support faster clean energy deployment across India.
