US helium exploration company Altura Energy (Altura) remains on schedule for the pipeline replacement at its Saddle Horse Draw target in the Holbrook Basin of Arizona.
The pipeline installation will connect the redeveloped wells to a processing plant, alongside upgrading the monitoring systems, which CEO Ashley Lastinger said could support well tie-in activities in the coming weeks.
Altura said the project is now gearing up for three additional workovers on existing wells, which will be tied into the new pipeline once completed.
In total, the company plans to bring two existing wells back into production and complete the workovers of four additional wells.
According to Altura, the two producing wells previously flowed 123 and 118 thousand cubic feet of helium per day, respectively, with helium concentrations between 5% to 8%.
Lastinger told gasworld, “The infrastructure upgrade is critical to the success of Pinta South. Altura can have great wells, but if we do not have the pipeline to get the gas to the processing plant, it doesn’t matter how great the wells are.”
Altura the infrastructure update programme in April of this year.
The upgrade programme coincides with a tightening North American helium market.
Last week, industrial gas major Linde said it expects as geopolitical disruptions tighten global supply, with increases already beginning to materialise.
