Cryogenic pump specialist Svanehøj, an ITT business, has acquired Dutch marine gas pump servicing company H&K Services BV, expanding its servicing business across maritime and energy markets in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg.
The purchase, which closed in early May, supports a broader shift towards cleaner marine fuels in Western Europe’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply chain.
It also comes as the global LNG carrier fleet has more than doubled over the past decade, exceeding 800 vessels, and increasing demand for service and maintenance of gas pumps and related equipment.
Svanehøj’s pump technology is compatible with all forms of liquid gas, including LNG, carbon dioxide (CO2), ammonia, and methanol.
H&K Services maintains marine fuel and cargo gas pumps, and the company is an established specialist in Svanehøj’s deepwell pump solutions.
The company will operate under the Svanehøj EPS name and continue operations from its former headquarters in Stellendam, the Netherlands.
Søren Kringelholt Nielsen, CEO of Svanehøj, said the acquisition will strengthen the company’s position in supporting the international shipping hub operating from the Benelux region.
“We see significant potential to expand our service and repair activities for gas pumps in the region, and H&K Services will support this,” he said.
The company’s founder, John Huizer, will continue as Technical Manager at Svanehøj, while co-owner Bert De Korte plans to retire.
According to the Council of the European Union, the Netherlands was one of the largest LNG importers within the EU in 2025, with total LNG imports in the EU region reaching over 140 billion cubic metres (bcm).
