US-based PEM electrolyser manufacturer Ohmium International and Indian solar firm InSolare Energy have partnered to build a 4MW green hydrogen project in India to supply energy, industry, and mobility sectors.
Set to be built in Neyveli, Tamil Nadu, for state-owned mining and power enterprise NLC India Limited, the facility is planned to produce up to 700 tonnes of hydrogen per year.
No project timeline has yet been revealed.
Ohmium, which operates two electrolyser plants in India, including a launched in mid-2024, unveiled its new PEM system last year.
NLC produces power for distribution across Southern India and Rajasthan. Specific use cases for the hydrogen have not been confirmed.
InSolare is among the green ammonia tender winners under India’s Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) demand aggregation programme.
It won a $ to Madhya Bharat Agro Products (MBAPL) and Paradeep Phosphates (PPL) with 70,000 tonnes and 15,000 tonnes of ammonia annually for 10 years.
The solar firm also intends to of AEM electrolyser manufacturing using licensed technology from US player Versogen, after winning Indian subsidies to establish domestic electrolyser-making capacity.
