Constant Energy, a leading developer, owner and operator of large-scale renewable energy projects in Asia, together with Nam Phat Shipbuilding and Shipping Company Corporation, a member of Nam Phat Group, has officially inaugurated a 2.7 MWp rooftop solar installation at Nam Phat’s industrial facility in Ha An, Quang Ninh.
The project was first agreed following a signing ceremony in the third quarter of 2025 and has now been successfully commissioned. It has been installed on the rooftop of a large-scale industrial complex that combines manufacturing operations with port and logistics services. The solar system covers more than 20,000 square metres of rooftop area and has a total installed capacity of 2.7 MWp.
In its first year of operation, the system is expected to generate approximately 3,099,868 kWh of electricity, with stable production expected in the years ahead. The solar installation currently meets around 38% of the facility’s total electricity demand, significantly reducing reliance on grid power and lowering overall energy costs.
In addition to cost savings, the system also provides operational benefits such as reducing rooftop heat, improving indoor working conditions, and supporting more stable energy consumption during high-temperature periods. The project is also aligned with broader industrial and regulatory trends, particularly the growing importance of carbon reduction requirements such as the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).
For manufacturers in export-driven sectors, access to clean energy is increasingly seen as a way to maintain competitiveness in international markets while meeting sustainability expectations from global customers. At the inauguration, both companies highlighted the strategic importance of renewable energy adoption in Vietnam’s industrial sector.
Constant Energy emphasised that many of its international clients already prioritise renewable energy use, and noted that it is encouraging to see Vietnamese companies such as Nam Phat taking proactive steps in this direction. The company also indicated that this project marks the beginning of a broader collaboration with Nam Phat and EPC partner VINCI, with plans to develop additional projects in the future under high technical and sustainability standards.
Representing Nam Phat, Director of the cluster Nguyen Thi Thuy described the partnership with Constant Energy as an important milestone in the company’s green transformation journey. She noted that the adoption of solar energy is helping the company optimise operating costs while also strengthening its ability to compete in global markets where sustainability performance is becoming increasingly important.
For energy-intensive industries such as shipbuilding, steel, and heavy manufacturing, rooftop solar is increasingly being adopted as a practical solution to reduce emissions, improve energy security, and align with evolving global sustainability requirements. This 2.7 MWp installation represents an initial step in a longer-term partnership between Constant Energy, Nam Phat, and VINCI, aimed at supporting the group’s broader transition toward net zero operations.
