Canadian hydrogen fuel cell firm Ballard has secured a repeat order for 15MW of systems for off-grid stationary power applications from an unnamed UK-based customer.
The unvalued order comprises 150 of Ballard’s 100kW modules designed for medium and heavy-duty vehicle applications, which will be integrated into hydrogen gensets for use in live events, construction, film sets, and critical infrastructure.
Ballard said deliveries are due to begin in the second half of 2026.
It comes as the second 15MW order from the customer, described as a renewable off-grid power generation specialist.
Fuel cells are increasingly being positioned as a potential off-grid clean power solution. Markets in Europe are increasingly putting pressure on eliminating diesel generators across building sites, film sets, and events.
In Q1 2026, stationary fuel cell sales accounted for Ballard’s second-largest revenue-generating segment, behind bus applications, growing 775% year-over-year to represent $5.2m.
In the UK, hydrogen generator firm GeoPura has deployed its hydrogen power units – which use Ballard fuel cells – for electric vehicle charging, construction sites, and on-site power.
Off-grid power solutions are also becoming increasingly attractive for industrial sites and data centres, which face long grid connection times.
