South Africa’s National Transmission Company South Africa (NTCSA) is accelerating the processing of renewable energy curtailment claims as increasing renewable energy integration places greater demands on the national grid. The initiative aims to improve transparency and compensation mechanisms for power producers affected by grid constraints while supporting the country’s broader energy transition. Faster claim settlements are expected to strengthen investor confidence and facilitate greater renewable energy deployment across the country.

The African Development Bank Group has approved a US$100 million financing package for the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) to accelerate renewable energy development across West Africa. The funding will support clean energy infrastructure, improve electricity access, and enhance regional energy security. The initiative is expected to attract additional private investment while advancing sustainable economic growth and climate resilience throughout the region.

Zambia has signed a power purchase agreement for a major 500 MW solar park supported by a South Korean investor, marking one of the country’s largest renewable energy projects. The development is expected to strengthen Zambia’s electricity supply, reduce reliance on hydropower during drought periods, and attract further international investment into the nation’s renewable energy sector. The project also supports long-term energy diversification goals.

A.P. Moller Capital has strengthened its renewable energy portfolio through a new acquisition in South Africa, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable infrastructure investments across Africa. The transaction supports the expansion of clean energy assets while contributing to South Africa’s efforts to increase renewable generation capacity. The move reflects growing investor confidence in Africa’s energy transition and the region’s long-term renewable energy potential.

ARC Power and Kiyona Energy have launched a US$60 million partnership aimed at accelerating solar energy deployment in Zambia. The collaboration seeks to expand access to reliable and affordable clean electricity while supporting economic development and energy security. By investing in solar infrastructure and distributed energy solutions, the partners aim to strengthen Zambia’s renewable energy ecosystem and contribute to the country’s sustainability objectives.

Zafiri has officially launched with US$176 million in funding to expand renewable energy access across Sub-Saharan Africa. The initiative will focus on supporting distributed renewable energy projects, improving electricity availability in underserved communities, and promoting inclusive economic growth. By mobilizing capital and fostering innovation, Zafiri aims to bridge energy access gaps while advancing sustainable development goals throughout the region.

Titan Egypt has entered into a 25-year power purchase agreement with SolarizEgypt for an 11.45 MW solar power plant serving one of its cement production facilities. The project will help reduce carbon emissions, lower energy costs, and support the company’s sustainability targets. The agreement highlights the growing role of corporate renewable energy procurement in advancing industrial decarbonization across Africa.

The Democratic Republic of Congo has awarded a contract for the construction of a 3 MW solar power plant in Nioki Centre, expected to become the region’s largest solar facility. The project aims to improve electricity access, support local economic activities, and reduce dependence on conventional energy sources. It represents another step toward expanding renewable energy infrastructure in underserved areas of Central Africa.

South Africa is strengthening its electricity transmission network through a France-backed technical cooperation programme focused on grid modernization and capacity enhancement. The initiative will provide expertise and support to improve grid reliability, facilitate renewable energy integration, and strengthen energy security. The collaboration underscores the importance of international partnerships in addressing infrastructure challenges and enabling Africa’s clean energy transition.
