Serentica Renewables to Invest ₹1 Lakh Crore in Rajasthan, Expands Renewable Energy and BESS Portfolio

Serentica Renewables has announced plans to invest ₹1 lakh crore in Rajasthan over the coming years, reinforcing the state’s position as a key hub for India’s renewable energy expansion and industrial decarbonisation efforts. The company has already invested more than ₹10,000 crore in the state and is accelerating the development of large-scale renewable energy and battery storage infrastructure.

The company currently operates a renewable energy portfolio of more than 2,500 MW, with an additional 3,000 MW under construction. Serentica aims to supply 67 billion units of clean electricity annually, contributing to the avoidance of approximately 47 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions. Its long-term renewable energy pipeline is planned to reach 27,000 MW, with Rajasthan accounting for over half of its total solar capacity.

Serentica’s existing solar assets are located across Bikaner and Jaisalmer, with further expansion planned in Bhadla. The company said its strategy focuses on delivering reliable, round-the-clock renewable power for commercial and industrial consumers through integrated renewable energy and energy storage solutions.

As part of its next phase of expansion, Serentica will commission the first phase of one of the region’s largest Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects in Bikaner. The initial phase will add 200 MWh of battery storage capacity to provide uninterrupted clean energy supply to industrial customers. A second phase, comprising an additional 800 MWh of storage capacity, is expected to become operational within the next three months.

Looking ahead, the company also plans to expand its Fatehgarh solar platform with an initial capacity of 1,270 MWp, followed by an additional 500 MWp of solar generation and a 2,500 MWh battery energy storage system during FY2026-27.

Commenting on the company’s expansion plans, Akshay Hiranandani, CEO of Serentica Renewables, said Rajasthan remains a critical pillar of the company’s growth strategy and is emerging as one of India’s leading renewable energy destinations. He added that the upcoming battery energy storage project in Bikaner will strengthen the company’s ability to provide firm, dispatchable renewable energy while supporting industrial decarbonisation and enhancing grid resilience.

Beyond renewable energy infrastructure, Serentica is also investing in community development initiatives across Rajasthan. Through its EdIndia and ‘Vikas’ programmes, the company has committed more than ₹3.8 crore towards education, teacher training and local infrastructure development.

With commercial and industrial demand for clean energy continuing to rise, Serentica said its integrated renewable energy and battery storage strategy is designed to position Rajasthan as a major centre for reliable, affordable and sustainable power generation while supporting India’s long-term energy transition.
