JSW Energy PSP Eleven Limited (JEPEL), a step-down subsidiary of JSW Energy Limited, has secured new orders worth ₹443.74 crore from Bondada Renewable Energy Private Limited for the supply of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and Power Conversion System (PCS) solutions. Bondada Renewable Energy is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bondada Engineering Limited.
The order covers the supply of a 200 MW / 400 MWh Battery Energy Storage System, marking another significant milestone for JSW Energy as it continues to strengthen its presence in India’s rapidly expanding energy storage market. The project highlights the increasing demand for advanced battery storage solutions to support the country’s growing renewable energy capacity and grid modernization efforts.
JEPEL operates a battery assembly plant in Pune with an annual manufacturing capacity of 5 GWh. The company stated that the latest order aligns with its strategy to expand across the energy value chain while strengthening its capabilities in energy storage technologies. The company sees battery storage as a key component of India’s future power system, enabling greater grid stability, efficient peak load management, seamless integration of renewable energy, and reliable round-the-clock electricity supply.
JSW Energy has been steadily expanding both its power generation and energy storage portfolio. The company currently has a total locked-in generation capacity of 32.1 GW, including 14.53 GW of operational capacity and 13.0 GW under construction across thermal, hydro, and renewable energy projects. In addition, it has a development pipeline of 4.6 GW.
On the energy storage front, JSW Energy has built a locked-in storage portfolio of 29.6 GWh. This includes 26.4 GWh of pumped hydro energy storage and 3.2 GWh of battery energy storage systems. The company has set ambitious long-term targets of achieving 30 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by 2030. It has also committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, with battery energy storage expected to play a central role in supporting India’s transition towards a cleaner and more reliable power system.
