POWERGRID Wins TBCB Project For Krishnagiri REZ Phase-I Transmission System Across Three Southern States

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has been declared the successful bidder for a major inter-state transmission project under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process. The company received the Letter of Intent (LoI) for the project on July 10, 2026, marking another important milestone in India’s efforts to strengthen its power transmission network and support the integration of renewable energy.

The project, titled “Transmission System for Integration of Krishnagiri REZ Phase-I,” will be developed on a Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) basis. It is designed to facilitate the evacuation and transmission of renewable energy generated from the Krishnagiri Renewable Energy Zone (REZ), ensuring reliable power flow to the national grid.

According to the regulatory disclosure made under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, the project includes the construction of two new 765/400 kV substations in Andhra Pradesh. POWERGRID will also develop an extensive network of 765 kV and 400 kV transmission lines that will pass through Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka. The scope of work further includes the installation of all associated transmission bays and related infrastructure required for efficient grid operations.

The transmission system is expected to improve the capacity of the regional electricity network and enable the seamless integration of renewable energy into the national grid. It will play a key role in supporting India’s clean energy expansion by providing the necessary transmission infrastructure for large-scale renewable power projects.

The official announcement was made through a regulatory filing submitted to the National Stock Exchange of India Limited and BSE Limited. The filing was signed by Anjana Luthra, Company Secretary and Compliance Officer of POWERGRID, confirming the company’s selection for the strategically important transmission project.
