Global clinical solutions firm Resonant has acquired Creapharm Bioservices, the French subsidiary of clinical trial supply and packaging company Myonex, under its biorepository business, expanding its European cryogenic storage capacity for temperature-sensitive biological materials.
The acquisition brings Creapharm’s specialised biobanking infrastructure into Resonant’s European biorepository operations, supporting complex clinical programmes, including cell and gene therapy trials, that require specialised handling and storage.
Based in Bailly-Romainvilliers, France, Creapharm’s capabilities include vapour-phase nitrogen storage at temperatures as low as -196°C, alongside mechanical freezer and cold storage.
The business also provides GMP sample storage and GDP quality-control sample custody.
Christophe Berthoux, CEO of Resonant, said, “Life sciences companies increasingly need partners with the specialised expertise, infrastructure, and global reach to support more of the clinical trial lifecycle.”
The deal comes as clinical development shifts towards increasingly complex biological modalities, including cell and gene therapies, which require more specialised storage and handling conditions.
According to clinical research services company IQVIA, non-small-molecule assets accounted for 46% of Phase I–III clinical trial starts in 2024, up from 38% five years earlier.
The acquisition adds cryogenic infrastructure and specialist handling expertise to Resonant’s existing biorepository operations in Europe, with the company targeting clinical programmes involving increasingly temperature-sensitive biological materials.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
