Canadian climate tech firm Skyrenu has delivered a first batch of direct-air-captured (DAC) CO2 to clean tech company Secant Fuel.
Skyrenu said it was combining two complementary technologies across one value chain.
The Canadian company’s modular, low-energy DAC system can produce concentrated, high-purity CO2 ready for utilisation or storage while Secant Fuel’s proprietary process converts biogas, including methane and CO2, into syngas for renewable methanol and other low-carbon products.
Gabriel Vézina, Co-founder and CEO of Skyrenu said delivering the first shipment of DAC CO2 was a “defining moment” and shows carbon pulled directly from the air can become the raw material for the fuels and chemicals of tomorrow.
DAC has been having a good week with Liverpool FC and US-based CCUS firm 1PointFive , and Climeworks Solutions claiming to have more than at its Icelandic DAC and storage facility over the past 18 months.
