European green energy group Vorn Bioenergy is continuing its continental expansion after acquiring five biogas plants in Italy.
The deal also includes an associated composting facility from Italian renewables firm Enerfarm.
The five plants and the composting facility, currently at different stages of construction, have a total capacity of more than 200GWh.

CEO Jörg Lennertz said the acquisition of the plants in northern Italy, together with its activities at further locations in Italy [plants are under construction in Ferrara, Enersab and Martinelle], Spain, Portugal, Germany and Poland, forms part of its ambitious growth strategy. “Further steps are certain to follow this year,” he said.
Luca Belli, CEO of Enerfarm, said the transaction builds on work carried out over the past years and provides a solid foundation for the long-term operation and further development of the plants.
Partners involved in the project include Legance (legal advisor), EY Parthenon (tax and accounting advisor), AFRY (technical advisor) and Longspur Capital (financial advisor).
The Regensburg-based group is targeting production of 2TWh of biomethane per year by 2030.
