US industrial gas platform Meritus Gas Partners has appointed Robert D’Alessandro Jr. as its first Director of AI Operations, leading the company’s AI initiatives.
The appointment coincides with the company embracing AI implementation and shifting to a common enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, which it says has improved data integrity and visibility.
In the role, D’Alessandro will deliver AI-focused project identification, prioritisation, development and implementation programmes, along with governance, security, and training.
He joins Meritus from the investment bank TM Capital, where he analysed financial and operating data and implemented AI productivity solutions.
He will report to Allen Jezouit, the company’s Vice-President of Product Management and Digital Marketing.
Jezouit described AI as “one of the most consequential business opportunities.”
“[D’Alessandro] will be a dedicated central resource to help accelerate [AI] adoption across the enterprise while strengthening governance and security,” he said.
AI integration across ERP systems is projected to partially automate and streamline manufacturing, supply chain, and procurement processes.
In , Jonathan Bei, author and AI speaker, shared that more than half of US distributors (54.03%) believe that AI will give them a competitive edge, with only 3.03% of distributors believing that the technology is not important at all.
Bei also highlighted that 15.15% of distributors said that AI was vital to the success of their business.
Over two years on, it is likely that these numbers have now risen, inline with AI implementation globally.
