JA Solar Empowers Ghana’s Sustainable Future with High-Performance PV Solutions

JA Solar, a global leader in the PV industry, is advancing clean energy with a 507 kW rooftop-canopy solar PV power plant at Ghana’s National Information Technology Agency (NITA) Park in Accra. Exclusively powered by JA Solar’s high-efficiency PV modules, the project was developed in collaboration with RIFE Energy Ghana and TINO Solution and marks a key milestone in Ghana’s transition to sustainable energy. Recognized by the African Solar Industry Association, it sets a new benchmark for solar adoption in West Africa.

The NITA PV project delivers 696,000 kWh of electricity annually, meeting the demands of a challenging tropical climate characterized by high temperatures, heavy rainfall, and strong UV radiation. The selection of JA Solar modules was driven by their superior energy yield, low degradation rate, excellent temperature coefficient, and strong low-light performance, ensuring long-term stability and efficiency.

JA Solar’s commitment to quality and innovation ensures that its products meet the highest industry standards, offering exceptional durability and efficiency in diverse environmental conditions. With a proven track record in Africa, JA Solar continues to support customers by reducing energy costs, enhancing sustainability, and delivering long-term value through advanced PV solutions.

At the project inauguration, Ghana’s Minister of Communications, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, highlighted the significance of the project, stating, “The NITA solar PV project demonstrates our commitment to integrating sustainable energy into national infrastructure—a true reflection of Ghana’s spirit of innovation.”

Richard Okyere-Fosu, Director-General of NITA, emphasized, “This project is more than a renewable energy initiative; it underscores our dedication to technological innovation and sustainability. Through the adoption of solar power, NITA is actively reducing carbon emissions and driving a cleaner, technology-driven future.”

As JA Solar continues to expand its presence in Africa, projects like the NITA solar PV power plant reinforce its mission to empower businesses, institutions, and communities with clean, reliable, and efficient solar energy solutions.
