Adani Green Energy Surpasses 12,000 MW Renewable Capacity, Advancing India’s Clean Energy Goals

Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has set a new benchmark by surpassing 12,000 megawatts (MW) of operational renewable energy capacity. It is the first and only renewable energy company in India to achieve this milestone. The company’s total operational portfolio now stands at 12,258.1 MW, which includes 8,347.5 MW of solar power, 1,651 MW of wind power, and 2,259.6 MW of wind-solar hybrid capacity.

This achievement reinforces AGEL’s commitment to delivering 50,000 MW of clean, affordable, and reliable power by 2030. The current portfolio is expected to power more than 6.2 million homes while avoiding approximately 22.64 million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. The reduction in emissions is equivalent to the carbon absorbed by 1,078 million trees.

AGEL’s contribution to India’s renewable energy sector includes the largest greenfield expansion in the country, accounting for about 10% of India’s installed utility-scale solar and wind capacity. It also represents over 13% of India’s total utility-scale solar installations. The company is currently developing the world’s largest renewable energy plant at Khavda, Gujarat, with a planned capacity of 30,000 MW. Spread across 538 square kilometers, the plant is nearly as large as Mumbai and five times the size of Paris. Once completed, it will be the largest power plant globally across all energy sources.

So far, AGEL has operationalized 2,824.1 MW of renewable energy at Khavda. The project is progressing rapidly as part of India’s broader goal to achieve 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030. The company is leveraging the expertise of Adani Infra for project execution, Adani New Industries Limited for manufacturing, and Adani Infrastructure Management Services Ltd. for operations. Additionally, AGEL’s strong partnerships with suppliers are helping maintain a smooth supply chain, ensuring steady progress at the Khavda site.
