Sweden biogas operator secures €15m loan for new plant

Sweden’s Eskilstuna Biogas has secured a seven-year, €15m loan to finance the building of a new biogas plant near Eskilstuna in Sweden.

The loan is from Nordic Investment Bank and supported by the EU under the InvestEU programme.

The plant can receive 150,000 tonnes of feedstock per year and has an estimated production capacity of up to 5,450 tonnes of liquefied biogas. Eskilstuna Biogas expects the plant to start operations in the first half of 2027. Construction is already underway.

The facility will produce liquefied biogas for use as fuel for city buses and ferries.
