ABB, Charbone plan 15 North American green hydrogen sites in five years

ABB and Charbone Hydrogen Corporation plan to develop up to 15 green hydrogen facilities across North America over the next five years, with a first project located in Québec, Canada.

Under a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the companies have agreed to connect Charbone’s inaugural plant in Sorel-Tracy to the Hydro-Québec grid as a first move.

The facility, scheduled to go live by the end of Q2 2025, is intended to serve as a blueprint for future projects and will produce around 400kg of hydrogen in its first phase.

A second site in the greater Detroit area has also been agreed.
