US helium production and distribution company Altura Energy (Altura) has completed its helium pipeline infrastructure upgrade and tied in six initial wells to the helium processing facility of its Saddle Horse target in Arizona.
The company said the trenching, boring, and fusion welding of over eight miles of pipeline, located in the Pinta South helium field of the Holbrook Basin, was completed in just over a month.
Ashley Lastinger, CEO of Altura, said, “[The company’s next step is] re-establishing production from the initial two recompleted wells and continuing recompleting the additional four wells.”
Altura said the two producing wells previously flowed 123 and 118 thousand cubic feet of helium per day, respectively, with helium concentrations between 5% to 8%.
In March, Altura Energy signed a with contractors for the pipeline replacement and infrastructure upgrade. The reconstruction was expected to take approximately two months.
Lastinger previously told gasworld, “The infrastructure upgrade is critical to the success of Pinta South. Altura can have great wells, but if we do not have the pipeline to get the gas to the processing plant, it doesn’t matter how great the wells are.”
Alongside its operational push, the company has also undergone a broader transformation after it in May 2025.
The rebrand consolidated debts and brought on a new management team, but it also provided the business with a lifeline as a commercially viable helium production company.
As part of this, Altura has secured a multi-section farmout immediately adjacent to commercial helium production with a major oil and gas company.
By giving away a share of working assets, Altura has secured financing that derisks operations, as the company reestablishes and ramps up helium production.
