Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu virtually inaugurated Hero Future Energies’ (HFE) green hydrogen plant at Rockman Industries in Tirupati. The ₹1,000-crore facility is designed to blend green hydrogen with Piped Natural Gas (PNG) and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) to support industrial heating applications.

Naidu expressed pride in inaugurating the project, highlighting it as a significant step toward industrial decarbonization. Developed by HFE and Rockman Industries, the plant introduces a unique approach by blending green hydrogen with LPG and PNG for industrial use. This initiative is expected to play a crucial role in reducing carbon emissions while promoting clean energy solutions.

The plant features a 300 kW Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyzer powered by a 1.1 MWp rooftop solar system. It has the capacity to blend up to 10% green hydrogen in LPG and 3% in PNG. With an annual production capacity of 25 TPA, the facility has the potential to expand up to 54 TPA. Additionally, it provides employment for 2,000 people. Environmentally, it is expected to cut carbon dioxide emissions by 206 TPA and generate up to 195 TPA of oxygen.

Naidu emphasized the project’s role in setting new benchmarks for India’s clean energy transition. He noted that this initiative could serve as a model for industries such as glass, steel, petrochemicals, and chemicals, enabling them to adopt hydrogen-based solutions without requiring significant infrastructure modifications.

The Chief Minister also reiterated Andhra Pradesh’s commitment to green energy under the SwarnaAndhra@2047 vision. He mentioned that the state’s Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024 aims to add over 160 GW of renewable energy capacity while attracting investments worth up to USD 119 billion within the next five years.

With its strategic location, well-connected ports, and industry-friendly policies, Andhra Pradesh is positioning itself as a major hub for green hydrogen exports. The new facility is expected to contribute significantly to the growth of India’s renewable energy sector while supporting domestic and international markets.
