Astronergy Proves Real-World Durability with IEC TR 63556 Certification

Astronergy has officially received the IEC TR 63556 outdoor validation certificate from the China Photovoltaic Test Center (CPVT), confirming the excellent environmental adaptability and long-term durability of its PV modules under one of the most stringent testing protocols in the solar industry.

The announcement was made during the SNEC 2025 International Photovoltaic Power Generation and Smart Energy Conference in Shanghai, where Astronergy also showcased its upgraded ASTRO N series. Now powered by TOPCon 5.0 cell technology, the series delivers enhanced power and efficiency performances, better temperature coefficients, and higher energy yields across a wide range of climate conditions.

Unlike traditional standards, IEC TR 63556 evaluates module performance under combined environmental stress conditions such as high temperature, humidity, UV radiation, salt mist, and extreme thermal cycling. These tests simulate real-world challenges faced by PV systems in deserts, coastal regions, wetlands, and high- altitude areas.

Astronergy modules demonstrated excellent stability throughout the rigorous testing process, with no visible, structural, or electrical defects observed under prolonged and complex environmental stress conditions.

Further validating this performance, real-world results from CPVT’s outdoor test base in Yinchuan—characterized by a dry, harsh climate—showed that a full-string installation of 10 ASTRO N modules achieved an impressive first-year average degradation rate of just 0.69%, significantly better than the industry’s typical 1% benchmark.

“Achieving IEC TR 63556 certification is a strong endorsement of our field-oriented product development philosophy,” said Jack Zhou, Head of Global Product Technical Management at Astronergy. “We build modules not just to pass lab tests, but to perform reliably in the most demanding environments worldwide.”

As solar energy adoption continues to expand into more diverse and extreme geographies, certified long-term performance is becoming increasingly critical. With industry-leading durability, advanced cell technology, and real-world validation, Astronergy’s ASTRO N series is well-positioned to support utility-scale and distributed solar projects across all global markets.
