Avaada Electro Commissions First 3 GW Line at 6 GW TOPCon Solar Cell Manufacturing Facility in Nagpur

Avaada Electro Limited, the solar PV manufacturing arm of the Avaada Group, has commissioned the first 3 GW production line at its 6 GW N-Type TOPCon solar cell manufacturing facility in Butibori, Nagpur. The remaining 3 GW capacity is currently under ramp-up, marking another milestone in the company’s expansion of India’s domestic solar manufacturing ecosystem.

The integrated manufacturing facility is equipped with advanced N-Type TOPCon technology capable of delivering solar cell efficiencies of up to 25.5% under standard test conditions. The production lines also incorporate 16-busbar and 18-busbar cell architecture, designed to improve power density, reliability and energy generation.

The Nagpur facility forms part of Avaada Electro’s broader manufacturing expansion strategy. The company currently operates 8.50 GW of N-Type TOPCon glass-to-glass solar module manufacturing capacity across its Nagpur and Dadri facilities and plans to add another 5.10 GW, taking its total module manufacturing capacity to 13.60 GW.

In parallel, Avaada is planning an additional 6 GW solar cell manufacturing line at Greater Noida, which will increase its total solar cell manufacturing capacity to 12 GW. As part of its backward integration strategy, the company also intends to establish a 3 GW ingot and wafer manufacturing facility in Nagpur.

Commenting on the development, Vineet Mittal, Chairman and Whole-Time Director of Avaada Electro Limited, said the facility represents a significant step towards strengthening India’s self-reliance in clean energy manufacturing.

“With the establishment of our 6 GW solar cell factory at Butibori in Nagpur, Avaada is actively contributing towards India’s green industrial age and complete technology independence. This facility is our definitive pledge to the nation—a localized manufacturing ecosystem engineered to minimise foreign import dependencies, accelerate economic growth and position India at the forefront of the global energy transition,” he said.

Mittal added that the integrated manufacturing complex is designed to support indigenous innovation while enhancing India’s clean energy manufacturing capabilities. He noted that as the country’s AI-driven digitalisation and data infrastructure continue to expand, the demand for reliable and clean electricity will rise, making domestic solar manufacturing increasingly important for supporting future energy needs.

According to the company, the integrated manufacturing ecosystem is expected to strengthen supply chain resilience, improve operational efficiency, reduce logistics costs and accelerate localisation across the solar value chain.

The expansion also reinforces Avaada Group’s position as an integrated energy transition company with businesses spanning renewable power generation, solar PV manufacturing, green hydrogen and its derivatives, energy storage and pumped storage.

Avaada Energy currently has a renewable energy portfolio exceeding 17.70 GWp, including more than 7.20 GWp of operational capacity and approximately 10.50 GWp under construction, supporting India’s renewable energy expansion and decarbonisation objectives.
