BASF and Sinopec to advance biomethane use at China chemical site

Chemical company BASF and state-owned energy and chemical firm Sinopec have agreed to expand biomethane use at their BASF-YPC Verbund chemicals manufacturing site in Nanjing, China.

Under the agreement, subsidiary Sinopec Tianranqi Company will supply BASF-YPC – a joint venture between BASF and Sinopec – with an undisclosed amount of biomethane to support lower-carbon production across the integrated complex.

The site spans more than 20 plants and produces a range of intermediates and polymers.
