Bharat Climate Forum Unveils 2025 Milestones on India’s 79th Independence Day, Advancing Climate Leadership and Domestic Manufacturing

Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Union Minister, unveiled the Bharat Cleantech Manufacturing Platform at the Bharat Climate Forum 2025 in January.

The Bharat Climate Forum (BCF) marked India’s 79th Independence Day by announcing its 2025 milestones, underscoring the platform’s success in aligning India’s economic ambitions with global climate leadership. Echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day address on the importance of domestic manufacturing, BCF is advancing this mission and laying the foundation for a Viksit Bharat by 2047. Amitabh Kant, India’s G20 Sherpa, said: “India’saspiration to become a $30 trillion economy and a developed nation by 2047 hinges on our ability to lead in clean technology manufacturing. Unless we decisively strengthen the battery value chain, mineral processing, and advanced manufacturing capabilities, we risk remaining import-dependent and missing the opportunity to lead globally. The Bharat Climate Forum is helping bring these critical issues to the forefront.”

Formed through a collaboration between Dalberg Advisors and the Council of International Economic Understanding (CIEU), BCF was established to drive decisive action on the climate crisis. Following its inaugural convening on January 10, 2025, which brought together over 300 leaders—including Union Ministers Shri Piyush Goyal and Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, along with CEOs of India’s leading renewable and manufacturing companies—BCF launched the Bharat Cleantech Manufacturing Platform (BCMP). This platform unites stakeholders from policy, industry, finance, and research to strengthen indigenous manufacturing across six priority sectors: solar, wind, battery energy storage systems (BESS), e-mobility, green hydrogen, and bioenergy.

A major milestone came when BCF’s National Manufacturing Mission (NMM) blueprint was shared with the Government of India. Its recommendations shaped Union Budget 2025 announcements on cleantech manufacturing support and now inform ministry-level discussions on localization targets and supply chain development.

Further advancing India’s global leadership, BCF and CIEU signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Solar Alliance to promote international collaboration in cleantech manufacturing.
