Canada to fast track Ksi Lisims LNG project under new infrastructure push

Canada Prime Minister Mark Carney has given strong support to the Ksi Lisims floating LNG export project in British Columbia, saying it is one that will “transform Canada’s energy future”.

The key infrastructure project aims to attract $30bn in investment and generate 12 million tonnes of LNG annually, primarily serving markets in the Pacific basin. The planned opening would be 2029.

The project, which involves Rockies LNG and Western LNG, also includes the 800km Prince Rupert gas transmission project to supply feed gas for liquefaction and a 95km electrical transmission line.

Led by the Nisga’a Nation, Ksi Lisims LNG will become Canada’s second largest facility and one of the world’s lowest-emission operations once fully electrified and connected to BC Hydropower.
