Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd (CGCEL) has secured a ₹445.03-crore tender from the New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP) to provide rooftop solar systems under the PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojna.

The project, one of the largest residential rooftop solar initiatives in the state, aims to install 2 kW on-grid solar systems across more than 40,000 households in Andhra Pradesh. The contract encompasses the design, engineering, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, and operation and maintenance for five years.

In a regulatory filing, CGCEL confirmed receipt of the letter of award from NREDCAP, marking a significant step in the company’s solar rooftop expansion strategy. The initiative is expected to accelerate residential adoption of clean energy, helping households reduce electricity bills while contributing to India’s renewable energy goals.

The PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojna is a central government program aimed at promoting rooftop solar deployment in urban and semi-urban households, particularly targeting energy-efficient solutions in residential segments. Crompton, with its extensive experience in electrical appliances and solar solutions, is expected to leverage its expertise in executing the project efficiently within the stipulated timeline.

Industry observers note that this project reflects the growing momentum in residential solar adoption and highlights the role of public-private partnerships in scaling India’s renewable energy capacity. The tender award also reinforces Crompton’s position as a key player in the solar rooftop market.

The project is slated for completion in the next six months, with CGCEL managing end-to-end project delivery and long-term maintenance, ensuring sustainable performance of installed systems.
