Currency impact prompts 2.4% fall in group revenue for Air Liquide in third quarter

Air Liquide’s published group revenue for the third quarter fell 2.4%, which it attributed to currency impacts and lower energy prices.

CEO François Jackow said revenues rose 1.9% to nearly €6.6bn, driven by a similar percentage growth in its Gas and Services businesses. But Asia-Pacific, for many quarters the region fuelling growth, saw sales drop slightly by 0.8% year-on-year.

In what it described as an uncertain industrial environment, healthcare and industrial merchant were growth drivers, up 5% and 3% respectively. Geographically, the Americas stood out with 5% growth while revenues in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) rose marginally (0.4%).

Its investment backlog stands at nearly €5bn with new decisions amounting to €0.9bn, such as , its 200MW electrolyser in the Netherlands, and also developments in the fast-growing electronics and semiconductor sectors.
