Designed for plug-and-play installation, the system is tailored for apartment residents, homeowners with limited roof space, and off-grid applications, including cabins, campsites, and mobile homes.
The IQ Balcony Solar System is built around Enphase’s advanced IQ8HC™ Microinverters and includes the IQ® Balcony Gateway, IQ® Cables, and an AC power cable. It allows users to generate solar energy from balconies, patios, and other compact outdoor areas, making clean energy more accessible than ever before.
A Growing Market for Balcony Solar Solutions
Balcony solar systems, also known as “plug-in solar” systems, are rapidly gaining popularity in Germany. According to SolarPower Europe, 435,000 new balcony solar units were registered in 2024—up from 276,000 in 2023—bringing the total to 780,000 systems. This growth has been largely driven by strong regional subsidies and growing consumer interest in self-sufficiency.

The standard Enphase IQ Balcony Solar Kit includes two IQ8HC Microinverters, one IQ Balcony Gateway, necessary cables, and an AC power cord. Retailers may offer complete bundles that include solar panels and mounting hardware. The system supports up to seven microinverters and panels, with users able to monitor performance through the Enphase App.
